Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition Announced

Carjack and run over a few people this holiday season. (In game, obviously.)

They’ve been rumored for the longest time, thanks to various leaks and pieces of information making the rounds on the ‘net, but, finally, Rockstar Games has confirmed the return of the original Grand Theft Auto PS2 trilogy! Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will arrive this holiday season for all game platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox consoles, PC (via the Rockstar Games Launcher), and, for the first time, the Nintendo Switch!

The game’s release coincides with the 20th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III, which debuted to a huge ovation on the PlayStation 2. With the new releases, players can rediscover these classical games all over again. They will be better than ever before. According to the publisher, these games will include graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements for all three titles while still maintaining the classic look and feel of the originals. On that note, the company will remove previously released versions of the game on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation over the next week to prepare for the new releases. So if you want the classic versions, this is your last chance to get them! There are more details on The Trilogy expected over the next few weeks, but there’s no question that Rockstar will have a huge hit on its hands for this one. That should lead nicely into Grand Theft Auto V’s debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X early next year.
